Artist Statement

                             -My Artist Statement
I create beautiful things because creation it is the only thing in my life that is free of stress. Art always lightens my moods, whether I'm upset or not, and remains to be the eternal friend I can turn to any hour of any day. Art, simply put, makes me happy. Following a path to a self-proclaimed artist takes a lot of courage to do, and not meaning artistically aspiring artists can bring themselves to risk the possibility of poverty and limited luxurious to chase their passions. As naive as this may seem, I've completely decided to tackle the electric tiger and accomplish my goals of spending my life in my passions, happy and satisfied with my work.
Painting is beautiful. The concept is simple, yes, but the idea of taking liquid, or paste, and spreading these pigmented liquids and pastes on a board of stitched canvas to combine colors and forms and shapes to create an image is amazing. Sculpting is also just as beautiful in that you take three-dimensional pieces and combine them together to create a bigger three-dimensional piece, and it's almost like recycling creations to create. I adore working with paint and plaster, each can be their own, and can be combined, but painting and sculpting allow me to tap into my muse and get inspired to create, and the high I receive through creation is worth the difficulties I may face as I move along in my pieces.
Currently, I'm working on improving my artistic skills and bulking up my portfolio for future jobs. Right now it's all about my ability as an artist, and proving that to future employers, schools, etc., and I'm focusing also on my artistic connections online.

                                   -Prologue
It's not until you're about fifteen that you realize that artistic dreams are hardly possible. Teachers and family members alike warn against those things because they're "competitive" and "non-profitable", and you cannot help but to be hurt by what has been deemed "fact". Art is more than drawing or painting or sculpting something. Art is about taking an idea and making it a reality. Architects, animators, and painters are all artists alike, whether your work is more traditional or digital.

I didn't realize until almost sixteen years old that following the passions I've had since I was a little girl were even graspable. College and "jobs" that make a substantial amount of money are encouraged to little kids, and that's why when you ask a child,"What do you want to be when you grow up?", you receive one of two responses. 1) The typical. "I want to be a doctor!" or "I want to be a lawyer because they make lots of money!" or "I want to be a vet because I love animals!" and other answers similar, each a typical occupation that provides a decent stack of cash. However, then you hear the kids who end up in the same situation I did. "I want to be a singer!" or "A dancer!" or "An artist!" or "Famous!" It's all the same. And in being an adult, most will say,"Maybe you should do something different.. It's really hard doing those things, you know? And you're not promised to end up famous or rich, you know? You need a plan B." At eight, nine years old, that's terrible to hear, and will ultimately shatter every dream to ever arise in that prepubescent mind.

Positive reinforcement isn't offered if you won't make money doing what you love. That is just how most people see it. I, on the other hand, never truly let go of my love for the arts, and with the help of someone I love very dearly, I came to realize that my dreams are not out of reach, they're just not ideal to everyone else. But who cares?
